Scott Robison, Celebrate Recovery Director
Scott Robison was born and raised in and around Oklahoma until he moved to North Carolina in 1991 to attend Western Carolina University. Scott has worked in Native American communities as a teacher, coach, health educator, and currently as the Community Health Director at the Wewoka Indian Health Center. Scott has been married to Janice Gomez Robison for 18 years; they have raised 3 daughters and now have 4 grandchildren. Growing up Scott had 3 brothers sadly his younger 2 brothers passed in 2001 and 2009. Scott was 14 years old at the time of his father’s passing in 1984 is very close to his mother and nephew Jon (son of brother who passed in 2009).
Scott’s father was a preacher; therefore Scott was raised in church. Scott was born again at Boggs Springs Missionary Baptist Church Camp in 1978. Scott feels blessed to of had a mom who stayed home and taught him about the Lord. Although, his dad was only 40 years old when he died from a heart attack Scott remembers his father living out his faith and desire to share Christ openly demonstrating this as he took Scott door to door sharing Christ. Although, Scott had amazing role models in his life the passing of his father affected him in a negative way. Scott walked away from God which resulted in him using drugs and alcohol at the age of 15. Scott lived addicted to alcohol and drugs for the next 13 years. He experienced many broken relationships and hurt due to his drug and alcohol use. Even though Scott was a wayward sheep God gloriously drew him back in 1997, at Wrights Creek Baptist Church in Cherokee, NC. During that time Scott surrendered his life to the Lord and asked Christ to forgive him of his rebellion towards Him and now by the grace of God Scott has been clean and sober for 18 years.
Scott has been serving in the Gideon Bible Ministry since 1997. He has been member of Okemah First since 2011. Scott is a Sunday School teacher as well as the Minister of the Celebrate Recovery Ministry, which he head speared in 2012 out of a desire to help the hurting. Scott’s wife Janice is the Celebrate Recovery Cafe Recovery team leader and one of women’s open share groups and step studies leader. Scott has also been leading a Coaches Outreach Bible study for the Okemah School coaching staff since 2013.
Scott received a Bachelor of Education, in 1994, from Western Carolina University in NC. He holds a Master of Education, in 2008, from East Central University in Ada, OK. Scott also has both an Oklahoma teaching license and Elementary Principal license. In his spare time Scott enjoys making Indian ballsticks, deer hunting, fishing, and watching OU football.
